Cambridge Blue at the 2025 Bristol Brew

Having driven through intense rain and, for half the team, 3 hours of Circular Economy podcasts, Saturday greeted the Blues with a mild, 8 knot north-westerly breeze. Blues suffered a loss in the first race as they got into gear but proceeded to win the remaining races with highlights including Charlie & Kelsey slowing second and third place down on the last beat for an eventual 1,2,3 finish, and Ellen & Luke blasting through the fleet having been over the line. Races were about 6-8 minutes in length making the start key to the eventual result. Robbie and Daniel began a 3-race streak of red flags despite, or perhaps because of Robbie’s objections.

For the 2025 Bristol Brew social the team dressed up as elves and to our delight we were greeted with 7 pizzas!

Sunday saw the wind continue to come over the clubhouse but much lighter and shiftier. This didn’t suit the Blue’s, and results were mixed on the day, including losing a 1,2,3 when the wind died down the run and Robbie circling back from an easy 1 into a wind hole, and getting a bizarre 4th red flag for the weekend. Despite this much learning was gained, and a clear plan for training set. Overall, the team finished the 2025 Bristol Brew in 7th place.
