Cambridge at Women’s BUSA 2026

On the 28th Feb/1st March the wonderful women of Cambridge Cruising Club took to the waters of Farmoor reservoir to compete in women’s BUSA 2026. We started off the event on a high, finishing the first race in a 1, 2, 3, followed by a strong 2, 3, 5 win against Oxford. Unfortunately, as winds climbed our results didn’t necessarily follow suit. Ellen and Kelsey took an unwanted dip after some dramatic events at mark 4, leading to a speedy righting by the pair. Lily and Siân remained consistently speedy throughout the weekend, with Siân enjoying a 1, 2 win against an old friend in a 2 v 2 on Sunday. Emma and Pippa did some smooth sailing, and perhaps some cheeky sailing as they became quite acquainted with the umpire’s red flag… The weekend was ended on a high also as we enjoyed a very competitive race against Exeter, the BUSA Women’s champions. A short weekend of high speed, high wind racing, with plenty of red flags (and some green!) and the occasional capsize. Until next year!
