Cambridge Crimson at the Imperial Icicle 2026

The 14-15th, a crisp February weekend, saw Cambridge Crimson (joined by our captain) attend the Imperial Icicle 2026. Queen Mary Reservoir offered a light—though biting—breeze for the first day of racing. Crimson warmed up in the first race, first leaving the water with a balanced loss and win. Next came a series of close battles with Oxford—which we unfortunately left with lessons learned rather than wins (we’ll be back at Varsity!).

After a dinner spent in matching outfits—we’re all about promoting team unity at every turn—we returned on the Sunday to greyer, rain-soaked skies but brighter hopes. The mediocre wind and freezing temperature somewhat dampened the rate of the races, but we ended with a brilliant win against an otherwise unbeaten team. The joy of the final race warmed us enough to help bring the fleets in—a feat of great strength—and return to Cambridge.

Thank you to Imperial for organising the event and we look forward to seeing everyone again soon!
