All three Cambridge teams (Blue, Black, Purple) qualified for the BUSA national team racing finals during the Midlands Qualifiers event held at Grafham on 4/5 February 2017. Congratulations to all 18 Cambridge sailors on a fantastic result, and a big thank-you to the team of alumni and students who made possible a first class event for all 17 university teams participating.

Light winds posed a challenge for the race team on the Saturday, but good coordination enabled 59 races to be completed – with the three Cambridge teams heading the interim result list, followed by two Birmingham teams and Loughborough Purple. Sunday dawned with thick fog that fortunately cleared relatively quickly and enabled a further 52 races to be sailed, producing the clear-cut results already mentioned. Warwick Black also qualified for the finals and Loughborough Purple, Birmingham Purple, and Loughborough Pink have a second chance to qualify at the Playoffs in early March.
