Cambridge made a brilliant and determined start to their 2017 BUSA campaign with all 3 teams making it through to the finals during the Midlands Qualifiers event held at Grafham on 4/5 February. To add insult to injury, the Cambridge teams finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall! Congratulations to all 18 sailors - a report and gallery of photographs is on the website. Also many thanks to the team of helpers, commanded by Event Director Bryan Ormond (Pembroke 2012) and PRO Tim Palmer (St Catharines 2011), who made the event such a success for all the 17 teams participating.
Another year has started at Cambridge with great recruiting activity and 65 people participating in the Taster Weekend. As always, a report and photographs are on the website. A week earlier, a Cambridge Early 00s team won the O&CSS Generations Event and the current Cambridge team came 3rd, well ahead of Oxford - see the O&CSS website for full details. And, while not wanting to brag about such things, we note that there were 3 CUCrC sailors competing in the recent Endeavour Trophy, with Nick Craig coming 2nd, Roger Gilbert 4th, and Luke and Emma McEwen 17th out of 25 entrants - congratulations all!
Tuesday 14 June saw the largest invasion yet of Grafham by Cambridge sailors and windsurfers for the annual May Week Cuppers competitions. Some 70 dinghy sailors took part in team racing Cuppers and 15 windsurfers contested their Cuppers. Robinson won the team racing and Sidney Sussex claimed victory in the windsurfing event. A full report and some photographs are on this website.
