A major exercise to rationalise our use of the Chivers Girton Store has been completed. A big thank you to all student and senior members who contributed to the effort. Work started last June (See Great Girton Gala) and continued this past Michaelmas term. Jeremy Johnson completed the task over the Christmas break.
The Club's usual and brief AGM, followed by the Team Racing Dinner, was held in the Hawks' Club on Tuesday 28th November. The main business was the election of retiring Senior Treasurer Tom Ridgman as an Honorary Life Member - see separate post for details.
Tom Ridgman (Wolfson 1997) attended his last CUCrC General Committee Meeting, held in St John's Old Divinity School on Monday 20 November 2017. Tom has been Senior Treasurer of the Club since 2003 and his great contribution to the Club over the years was acknowledged with acclamation. He has seen the Club through many 'interesting' times, not the least being the separation of the Yachting Section to form the CU Yacht Club in 2013.

Cambridge Blue put up a good performance to finish 4th in the Gold Fleet at a very competitive Oxford Magnum held at Farmoor 11/12 November 2017. The weekend of 4/5th November 2017 saw great activity at Grafham Water as all four Cambridge teams trained - against a background of some 150 boats contesting the Laser Inland Championships. They were joined on the Sunday by an Oppie Squad being trained by former CUCrC Commodore Bryan Ormond and CUCrC members on the second half of their Level 1 RYA Training course. Over 40 people had to be transported to Grafham and back to Cambridge.
Generally good weather, with one or two spills on the Saturday, and excellent organisation made for highly enjoyable sessions on the taster weekend of 7/8th October 2017. Morning and afternoon sessions were held on each day and around 60 students sampled the pleasures of dinghy sailing and windsurfing at Grafham Water. Some photographs of the weekend's activity are in the gallery below.
