Beige 2nd in Silver League at Big Lash – March 2018

Cambridge Beige sailed very steadily to finish 2nd in the Silver League at the Big Lash organised by Manchester University at West Kirby 10/11 March 2018. With 4 flights and reasonable weather, all 21 teams participating has a great week-end of racing.

Cam Cup Cancelled – March 2018

Exceptionally cold weather resulted in the Cam Cup being cancelled - the first time this has happened in its 18 years of history. Originally scheduled for 3/4th March 2018, the decision to cancel was taken on the Thursday before the event. So, until 2019 ...

Beige Flew the Flag at Imperial Icicle – February 2018

A somewhat depleted Beige flew the Cambridge flag in the Imperial Icicle held 17/18 February 2018 at the Welsh Harp (Brent Reservoir). Missing two members, the team finished well down the rankings, but managed to avoid bottom. It was, however, a good preparation for the Manchester Big Lash at West Kirby - where Beige took the Silver Medal in the Silver Fleet.

Cambridge Are Top Gun Yet Again – February 2018

Cambridge Blue retained their title at an excellent Top Gun event held at Farmoor on 10/11 February 2018, beating Southampton 2-1 in a very closely-fought final. So Blue have achieved the hat-trick of three consecutive victories - congratulations to all the team!

Cambridge and Birmingham Dominate BUSA Qualifiers – February 2018

Cambridge and Birmingham sailing teams filled the first five positions in the BUSA Qualifiers held at Grafham Water SC 3/4 February 2018. Cambridge Blue and Black are through to the BUSA Team Racing Finals (2-4 April, Strathclyde Loch). Purple aim to fight their way through at the Playoffs (3/4 March, Bartley Reservoir).

Windsurfing Girton Store Cleared – January 2018

A major exercise to rationalise our use of the Chivers Girton Store has been completed. A big thank you to all student and senior members who contributed to the effort. Work started last June (See Great Girton Gala) and continued this past Michaelmas term. Jeremy Johnson completed the task over the Christmas break.

AGM and Team Racing Dinner – November 2017

The Club's usual and brief AGM, followed by the Team Racing Dinner, was held in the Hawks' Club on Tuesday 28th November. The main business was the election of retiring Senior Treasurer Tom Ridgman as an Honorary Life Member - see separate post for details.

Tom Ridgman Treasures His Last Committee Meeting – November 2017

Tom Ridgman (Wolfson 1997) attended his last CUCrC General Committee Meeting, held in St John's Old Divinity School on Monday 20 November 2017. Tom has been Senior Treasurer of the Club since 2003 and his great contribution to the Club over the years was acknowledged with acclamation. He has seen the Club through many 'interesting' times, not the least being the separation of the Yachting Section to form the CU Yacht Club in 2013.
